January 10th., 1947

Dear Mrs. Lehman:

Answering your call for funds for the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies, I am sorry to say that at the present moment I am unable to pledge myself to any large contribution.

I have to put at the head of my budget for such causes, as meritorious as they may be, first, the contributions I wish to make towards the displaced Jews in Europe and people personally known to me whom I am trying to help out.

This does not mean, of course, that later on I would not make a contribution, as small as it may be, towards this Federation to which you give such admirable help and support.

Sincerely yours,

(Germain Seligman)
