Ebbinge-Wubben [[strike through]] M. Morrison [[/strikethrough]] Suvretta House St. Moritz, Engadine Switzerland July 19, 1954 Dear Dr. Ebbinge-Wubben: May I start this letter by telling you how much Mrs. Seligman and I enjoyed meeting you, as well as Dr. Haverkamp Begemann. It was so kind of you both to have given us so much of your time when I realized only too well how very busy you were with the exhibition you were organizing. By this same mail and following my conversation with him, I am sending Mr. Van der Vorm a long letter on the subject of the manuscripts from the collection of H. H. the Duc d'Arenberg, forwarding to him also a catalogue. I am sending one to you simultaneously, by registered mail, and hope it will reach you safely. You will notice in perusing the catalogue, which I have marked, that some of the manuscripts have, of course, already been sold by me, but some of the most beautiful ones, as well as those which I think could be of particular interest from the point of view of the Netherlands, are still available. I am thus taking the liberty of giving you here below a summary of my comments to Mr. Van der Vorm for whatever worth they may have: Among the manuscripts of especial interest to the Netherlands would be, I think, #82, #67, #26 and/or #28, and #74, a great antiphonary of very large size and in beautiful condition throughout. Among the rarest and most precious manuscripts is Psalter #4, of amazing richness, with a great many of the miniatures on gold backgrounds. It is so very amply described that I have little to add. Also the Four Gospels, #3, especially precious for its cover of the period - more important, perhaps, than the manuscript itself. Also of general interest, I would like to call to your attention for their beauty and condition, the Astrological Writings, #89, made for Otto Heinrich van der Pfalz, and lettered in gold, as well as the two Breviaries, #11 and #76, so very exquisite and rich; and the Book of Hours,#78.
