February 19, 1969

Dear Dr. Bier:

How very pleasant it was to receive your nice lines of February 17th for which I thank you. I am glad to read that you are interested in my VESPERBILD, the price of which is $15,000 (FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS).

Your intention of studying it further in order to convey your own opinion about my conclusions as to date and region is indeed much appreciated.

In this respect I have just learned that it was reproduced and mentioned in WELTKUNST, October 15, 1955, when it was included in an auction at LEMPERTZ-COLOGNE. Prof. Dr. H. Schnitzler who reviewed this auction wrote :

"Dem weichen Stil gehort die sehrqualitatsvolle kleine Alabaster-Pietà (Abb. S.14)........" dating it ca 1430-1440.

Thanking you in advance for your kind news, and with personal regards.

Sincerely yours,
Germain Seligman
