The object of increasing the number of Bureau Agents at this time is to secure to Freedmen their right to vote in the coming election, as every possible effort is being made by their opponents to prevent them.

The number of Bureau officers and agents in Virginia during the last six months is as follows,

In November 1867, 61.
In December 1867, 60.
In January 1868, 60.
In February 1868, 59.
In March 1868, 61.
In April 1868, 64.

In the number for April, F. J. Massey, whose resignation is accepted to date may 31st 1868, is included_ Mr. Leahey is to fill the vacancy made by this resignation.
