Respectfully returned to Genl O. Brown, Asst Commr. with the information that Mr E. G. Townsend was appointed an Agent of this Bureau for the State of Virginia April 7th to take effect April 16th 1868 at One hundred dollars ($100.) per month.

He subscribed to the prescribed oath Aug 26th 1867 when on duty in the Dist. of Columbia. The oath should be again taken and filed in the office of the Asst. Com'r of Virginia.
