Sir,
I have the honor to ask that Mr. D. Irving Wood be appointed as clerk in this office at a salary of $90.00 per month, to commence from October 15th, to take the place of Mr. Edward W. Moore appointed to the place of Mr. Walter Woollcott discharged.

D. Irving Wood was a private in Co. K. 121st Penn. Vols. and served three years in the army
