WAR DEPARTMENT,
Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands,
Washington City, October 1, 1868.

Bvt. Brig. Genl. O. Brown
Assistant = Commissioner for the State of Virginia

Genl,
The Commissioner is desirous of obtaining, in order to complete his records, two copies of every General Order or Circular issued from the office of the Assistant Commissioner for the State of Va.

He therefore directs that you send to him two full files of all such as you have on hand printed, and thinks it advisable, so far as practicable, that you have those already out of print reprinted. Where this is not practicable, please have one written copy forwarded, and the duplicate will be made out here.

Very respectfully, your obedient servant,
A copy of this circular was sent you Oct 1st to which no answer has been received. An immediate compliance is requested.

J.A. Sladen
Bvt. Capt. U.S.A., A.D.C.
