Case was then continued from term to term until the last term Sept 1868 when he was tried and convicted, and sentenced to suffer the extreme penalty of the Law there were from 800 to 1000 persons, White and Colored present to witness the Execution but good order and tranquility prevailed throughout the day, rendered so no doubt by the presence of a detachment of the 21st U.S. Infty.
