The obstacles before this school are, its temporary character & the want of good school room accommodations and appliances.

It is greatly needed and ought to be sustained. I urge that assistance be granted it.

24th The Protestant Episcopal Society has a flourishing school in James St. Chapel, Norfolk, taught by a competent colored girl: I hope this may be continued, as doubtless the use of the building can be secured indefinitely.

This school needs suitable benches for writing and some blackboards. It is well attended and is doing a good work.

25th The same society conducts schools at "Deep Creek", eight miles south, and at "Taylors farm" twelve miles southwest of Norfolk, which I have not visited although I have endeavored to do so. These schools have a fair prospect of permanence and
