To whom it may concern:

This is to certify that I have received and forwarded to Messrs. Wolf, Hart &c, Claim Agents, Washington City, the Discharge Papers of Thomas Dexter, Co. C, of the 54th Regiment Massachusetts Infantry Vols. In said Thomas Dexter's Final Statement, he is described as having been born in Plymouth, Massachusetts, aged 20 years, 5 feet 8½ inches high, Black complexion, Brown eyes, Black hair, and by occupation when enrolled a Laborer. He was discharged by reason of Instructions from Maj. Genl. Q. A. Gilmore, Dated Hilton Head, So. Car., Aug. 8th 1865. The above papers were forwarded to Messrs. Wolf, Hart & Co, for collection of Back Pay and Bounty due him at the time of his discharge from service, and this is given to him in lieu of the same to prevent his arrest as a Deserter.

Henry Hudnall for
Wolf, Hart & Co.
