Comr. in accordance with instructions of the Commissioner of April 21st 1869, you will expend the sum of ten (10) Dollars per month. commencing April 1st 1869 for rent of Freedmen's School House situated in Lynchburg. Va. Rent to be paid to Rev. J.P. Jay: This expenditure is based upon an application of citizens of Lynchburg addressed to the Commissioner and referred to Asst. Comr. Dist Va. Philadelphia. 0/ Gentlemen, I am directed by the Asst Comr to request information related to a School house situated at Charlottesville Va. erected by northern men, said to be unused for school purposes. This information is desired so that steps may be taken to have the building used for the purpose it was intended.
