letter addressed and forwarded by his excellency Gov. Pierpoint accompanied by the proceedings of a meeting of the Citizens in Surry County, in regard to an article which appeared in the Richmond Whig of March 22nd herewith enclosed.

I have ordered an officer to the County to make a thorough inspection of the condition of Bureau affairs.
