On the 7th May, inst, Mr Edward. M. Webber, was appointed an Agent of this Bureau at a salary of $125 per month.

Mr Webber was subsequently assigned to duty as Inspector.- "Circular Letter" of August 1st 1867, provides for one Inspector for each State at a salary of $150 per month. 

I have the honor most respectfully to request that the appointment of Mr Webber as Agent be revoked, and that he be appointed Inspector at a salary of

$150 per month, to date from August 1st 1867.
