3.
for securing attendance at the Govt School, the average number, who attend there, is not more than 250; being a little more than half the number drawn from the Mission Schools.
5th We understand that this Govt School is carried on by a Principal, who manages the general concerns of the school, whose salary is paid by the Govt, while the teaching is done by the more advanced pupils, acting as Monitors; they in turn being taught a few moments each day by Convalescent Soldiers, detailed from the Hospital for that purpose.

The instruction, thus given by boys to boys, must be without thoroughness or accuracy, while the personal influence of the Teachers upon the pupils which has been so successful in the Mission Schools in developing and moulding the higher powers of the children is entirely wanting in the Govt School.

6th The Govt School provides for boys only, while the Mission Schools include both boys and girls.

7" The Govt School is doing nothing for adults of whom there are great number, who are obliged to labor during the day, and must be taught at night or not at all.
