Allow me to ask if I am to understand by your remark yesterday at Norfolk, that the schools here are to be put into my hands at the commencement of the Fall term, in such a sense that I am to be regarded as in the employ of the Bureau, & to you for my pay: or is my supervision to be more voluntary & nominal with the under standing that I am still in the employ of the A. M. Association & to look to them for my pay? One reason why I ask this is that having spent the best part of two years past, in this work for the Association, for $600 a year I had come to the conclusion that I had made about my part of pecuniary sacrifice, & that I could not return in the Fall — If you can give me something to do in connexion with
