make some final agreement with them soon. I asked in my letter what compensation I might offer them but I have received no reply.

Please inform me as soon as possible if you can employ them for service in my district and if so what compensation I may offer

I hope to be able to obtain new details for duty in Fairfax county so that the work there will not be long delayed - I am unable to get picked men as I had before.

I trust there will be no unnecessary delay in having two or three hundred mounted men well officered sent from Gen'l Terry's command to the North of the Rappahannock. If they can be sent to Warrenton or Leesburg and thence notify me, I can soon get into all my counties. Until their arrival I can do nothing except in Alexandria & Fairfax.

Very respectfully, your ob't Servt.
