My dear Col

I am in this quick town, awaiting the movement of authorities at Washington, having reported as ordered by letter to the Adjt General.

My object in writing now is to know if you can send me some servants male and female, particularly the latter. I can't tell you how much they are needed in our village as well as in the whole state. I am satisfied that we have [[strikethrough]] either [[/strikethrough]] got to resist the imperitive of the irish or leave this country to them. I don't
