Chesterfield Co Va. No 12th 1865

Colo Brown I want State to you concerning the will of Thomas Howlett Deciest Thomas Howlett he was my master an he was my father he died and left his asstate to his servants and will concerning it the will states the same as I take on my self to write I hope Colonel that you will notice this earnistly [[torn left margin]] se that I only wants you to understand it like I do I am one of his servants an his son I con test every thing that day concerning his will Thomas Howlett he died July the 9th /56 he appointed Bengemon Hatcher for administrator over his astate he left a farm containing 262 acres Land one half open Land one half of heavy timber oake an pine of the best of timber & he sold it 1857 for two years credit When he advised t the Land for sale & there was a quarrie of nice rock on the Land but he never put that in the advertisement a tal but sold it & bot it him self then he open a quarrie & got rock of it an then place saw mill in the hart of the woods & saw all the timber that was fit for anny thing he kept the Land [[torn left margin]] four years tilled it made Large crops of corn wheat & oats for four years then he sold it again In Confedrate monny 1861 now he says that the sold the Land deposit the monny in the Confedrate state stock then says that all he can not recover it I only want you Colonel to understand that I been tring to give you to understand some Ideas of things that he denies this is my memberrandom & I can confirm these thing
