prior to Col White being relieved from duty on the Eastern Shore Va. I received a check from him on Frank Smith clerk for Two Hundred Dollars $200. which was a settlement of a private matter between Col White and myself having no connection with our official relations. I know no one in the matter except Col White

He makes other accusations without a shadow of truth or knowledge of what he accuses me of.

5th
Should there exist a doubt in the minds of my superiors as to the true character of these charges, I earnestly hope that the case will receive an examination.
