No. 51

I It appearing that Mrs. Sallie M. Winder, one of the heirs of Nathaniel J. Winder, dec’d, is entitled by her dower right to one third of the property of the said N.J. Winder, situated in Eastville, Northampton Co., Va., and that the property is the undivided estate of the heirs, it is hereby ordered in conformity to instructions from the War Department, Bureau R.F. & A.L, that one third of the rent of said property be given to Mrs. S.M. Winder, if she has complied with all the terms of the proclamation of 29th May 1865

II So far as any jurisdiction of this Bureau extends over it, the property of George R. Wilson, Mary Anne Garnett (widow) and Georgeanna Wayne (widow) devisees of their deceased father, Dr. George Wilson, consisting of five tenements, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36 & 40 Bank Sts. Norfolk, Va is returned to them with all the rights and privileges of ownership upon the following conditions,

viz:-

1st The property will be turned over to the above named parties upon the expiration of the lease to any third party or parties, if any exists.

2nd That nothing in this order be construed as entitling them to compensation for damage to the property or to rents which may have accrued.

No. 16

It having been represented that in many instances the Freedmen are, without just cause, breaking fair contracts, voluntarily entered into on their part, and are thereby inflicting serious injury upon themselves and their employers, the attention of Superintendents is called to the letter of instructions from these Head Quarters dated June 15th, 1865

They will in conformity to said instructions see that all just and fair contracts are faithfully fulfilled by the Freedmen.
