Madam:
You are respectfully informed in reply to your letter of the 8th inst to the Secretary of War which has been referred to this office, that the Quarter Master General is advised, that the house in Norfolk Va. corner of Main and East Streets to which you allude has never been under the control of the Quarter Master's Department but was, and is in the possession of the Freedmen's Bureau.
Your application should be made to the Commissioner of that Bureau.
