NARA 71

Terry Nov 25th 1867

Maj. Sumner

Dr Sir
Isham Robinson will apply to you for an attachment on my cotton to pay his wages. which I assert to be correct. I owe him & his wife $375 00 three hundred & seventy five dollars, & Green Fox $215 00 two hundred and fifteen dollars. I think these freedmen has a stronger claim than any body else on this cotton, and it is nothing but just they should have it, therefore I hope you will order it seized at once and sold for their benefit, by Mr W. H. Tribette, who they have appointed their agent Otherwise the cotton will be attached for the rent of the land
Yours Truly
L. F. Chiles

PS I am unable to pay their wages unless it be with the above named cotton
