Sir,
Thomas Brown on the 11th of Oct received of the crop brought up for division made by himself on this place 5 1/2 barrels of very indifferent corn (nubbins) — also 7 barrels of the damaged corn, a sample of which I kept so badly was it spoiled. 117 bundles of good fodder. 5-6 damaged, one & a half wagon loads of hay mixed with more corn & stalk cut green - 5 1/2 bushels of potatoes - his remaining patch of potatoes he dug & eat himself no hogs had been in it as I went to see it myself. He has returned to me 12 barrels of the corn, [[?]] bushels of potatoes. The hay & fodder I did not examine or count. He made 827 lbs seed cotton, not yet ginned or baled. Lawrence Williams on the same day received 18 barrels of corn 185 bundles of fodder 187 bundles of hay - 8 bushels of potatoes - I received the same - He has returned 8 bushels of the corn and 2 barrels of corn & shucks mixed - making 10 - having used eight or ten himself - 118 bundles of fodder 6 1/2 bushels of potatoes - His hay I did not examine. He has made & taken to the gin 1021 lbs seed cotton yet unginned or baled - They dug their ground peas - have returned none to me - Thomas Brown gave me a peck - Lawrence W a half bushel in the division - They came to my place poor needy & half clothed - they leave fat, saucy, with horses & chickens - The latter (L.W.) came on a very lean horse which he had fed all the years on this place - & goes off on a fat horse.
