Sir,
Some two weeks since a communication was intrusted to the bearer, Albert Brown Freedman to-the-Messers Caswell & Jerome Taylor's, and on said Brown calling to deliver said document the Messers Taylor's were absent on a visit to Yazoo County and on their return home - when Albert Brown heared of it he call,d on the said Taylor's in regard to the paper intrusted to him by the Bureau for delivery and without further cause "fell a foul" of said Albert Brown & beat him with a stick, pulling & tearing him about unmercifully and had not Charly & Peter Brown interfeared would most probably have disabled him or even taken his life- useing the most terrible imprications & curses against said Brown - as he the said Albert Brown gave me in a statement of the affair threatening vengance & Terrors for further reporting to the Bureau against them &c, Albert Brown is desierous that the Taylors should be dealt with for "assault and battery" breaking the Peace &c, be Fined & imprisoned &c, but the indignaty was offered the Bureau inasmuch as Albert was the bearer of the order that caused
