FREEDOMWAYS FOURTH QUARTER 1971 many female writers. Sonia Sanchez employs strong invective. Carolyn Rogers in "U Name This One" and Nikki Giovanni in "My Poem" touch upon a similar theme: let uh revolution come. uh state of peace is not known to me anyway since I grew uhround in chi town where howling wolf howled in the tavern on 47th st. and muddy waters made u cry the salty nigger blues... we was all up there and just living was guerrilla warfare, yeah. let us revolution come. couldn't be no action like what i dun already seen. i am 25 years old black female poet wrote a poem asking nigger can you kill if they kill me it won't stop the revolution The love poems are earthy; the recollections of childhood warm and honest. As an anthology, quality-wise, it is hard to beat. If you have overlooked this new stream of writing in America, Natural Process will bring you up-to-date. By all indications, the raw surge of black voices will herald important activities in the future progression of world events. Patricia Gow 398
