Born in 1903, he was founder and artistic leader of the Taller de Grafic Popular which "laid the obligation of its members to work collectively, to defend the democratic rights of the people, to avoid separating social and artistic aims and to lend support to workers' organizations." Kamal Boullata illustrated, translated some of the poetry and wrote the introduction to the section of poems from the Palestinian liberation movement. Mr. Boullata is an artist living in Washington, D.C. Keith E. Baird is on the faculty of Hofstra University and is a Contributing Editor of FREEDOMWAYS. Herbert R. Cederberg is Director of Black Studies, History Department, University of Wisconsin at River Falls. Jo Hudson is a children's librarian in Albany, New York.
