in all aspects - and for a largely increased number of inmates if necessary

it is under the immediate direction of the Society of "Friends" - supported in part by them, and in part by the Bureau. Great Kindness is manifested towards them by the Matron sent to this city by the "Friends", and her assistants from the same Society. The children seem happy and contented - The health of the Institution is good. These friendless ones are fortunate in falling into the hands of sympathizing friends

Point of Rocks 
The Hospital at this point has been broken up - not being suitable for Winter purposes without heavy expenses in repairs. It was not needed where it was - the local demands being met by the Hospital at City Point. The patients were removed early in October to the Howard Grove Hospital at Richmond Va - where others were abundant accommodations
