the entire families, in such cases, after learning them to be worthy. I give assistance in supplying Rations for some of the children otherwise the entire Families would become a burden on the Govt. or induced to steal to support themselves.

There are many instances where Freedmen have taken their aged parents to live with them, (they previously having been at the Poor House,) and who after the present season will be able to support them. I furnish them also with rations, thinking they are much better off with their friends than at the Poor House.

It is my intention as soon as possible, to visit all parts of the County, and can then give a more extensive account of the state of affairs,
