In reporting the condition of affairs in this County, I have the honor to state that matters are moving on inn a very satisfactory manner. The Freedmen are, generally, working diligently and well, in many instances, (I learn from large planters,) better than ever before. and the disposition on the part of most of the employers is to act justly and honorably toward those in their employ. It is true there are instances where the white man shows a disposition to act unjustly toward the Freedmen, and take advantage of the ignorance of the latter when such instances
