There are a number of freedpeople suffering with the bloody Flucks in the mountains of Grayson County. I was compeled to employ a private Physician (residing in the vicinity) to attend to them until able to investigate further the State of Affairs (in regard to the overseers of the poor) in that County.
I have visited frequently the School at Wytheville, Va, under the charge of Miss Helen Smith assisted by Mrs Spencer (both colored) and have noted with pleasure the advancement made by the Pupils who show a ready familiarity with Spelling, Reading, the formation of Letters and the rudiments of mental Arithmetic.
