Report on the condition of Bureau affairs in Dinwiddie Co. Va. made by Lt. J. B. Clinton Asst Supt. Bureau of R. F. & A. L. for the month ending July 31st 1866.

Bvt. Brig. Gen. O. Brown
A.A.A.G.
Richmond Va.
Sir:-
I have the honor to report that the Freedmen in this Co. as a general thing are conducting themselves in a creditable manner, laboring faithfully under the contracts they have made, with a fair prospect of making an honorable livelihood, as nearly all are laboring for a share of the crops, which are looking well.

I have, however, weekly, cases of difficulty owing to some misunderstanding or want of confidence on the part of the Freedmen, all of which have been thus far amicably settled by a visit and explanation from me. The Whites, I believe as a general thing are disposed to deal with them justly and treat them deservingly, feeling that the two races are at present dependent upon each other. But in this there exceptions, there are a few employing them who appear not so well disposed towards them, who appear to think they can and say they are going to do without the Freedmen after this year. --Nothing further report.--

Very Respectfully Your Obt. Servt.
