Pursuant to Circ. No. 6. dated Hd. Qrs. Asst. Comr., State of Va. Richmond Va. Jan. 29th /66, I have the honor to submit the following report of the condition of this sub-district for the month of August 1866.

The same good feeling exists between the whites and freedpeople as mentioned in my last report.  "The crops are in a very unpromising state and already grave fears about existence during the coming winter are entertained by the freedpeople, who have planted only enough to supply themselves if the crop had been large."

The majority of the citizens are in favor of giving the freedpeople a limited education;
