places of public worship, and attend all public meetings to enlighten them, and warn them that they should prepare homes for themselves immediately, which has again brought forward the subject of colonization, which I think is having a good effect, and I should not be surprized to see quite a colony leave this District for Florida.

The Freedmen as a general thing [[?]] the idea of leaving his beloved "Old Virginny", so that if I can prevail to many of them to leave, I will consider it quite an achievement.

As yet there are no Schools in the County, but everything is being done to organize their [[strikethrough]] [[illegible]] [[/strikethrough]] as recommended in my report on the subject of Schools.  I hope that we may soon succeed in starting the proposed schools for they are much needed here.

The marriage Register in my county is nearly complete, and I think that by the end of September to have found all the parties to be entered.
