They White people and they Freedmen. I have heard of no opposition (on the part of the Whites to the education of they Freedmen.

During the past two (2) months their has been a school in this village (Clarksville) for Colored Children. Which numbers Seventy (70) Scholars and I have not heard of one word of opposition to its Continuance,
in nearly all they Churches (in this County) their are Services- and Sunday Schools for the benefit of the Colored people. They colored people of this County (with few exceptions) are disposed to be industrious. And whenever they can realise the responsibility of providing for themselves and families will be an independent Class of Free labourers, all things Considered (I think) the new System of Free labour in this County may be regarded as a Success.
Their is no epidemic amongst they Colored people of this county.
