The government buildings on the lot are two small frame buildings of little value. Mrs Collins occupies one of them. The other is occupied by a colored family. Mr Collins was arrested by the confederate authorities on the 8th or 9th July 1862 as a traitor to the Confederacy. He was afterwards shot in North Carolina as the application states. Endorsed City Point Va Aug 26th 1865 Respectfully forwarded to Capt Barnes with the following, a portion of Mr Proctor's land is occupied by the Military as Barracks Quartermaster & Commissary buildings. His barn is occupied by the Regimental Commissary of 62d Ohio, Vols, The other part of his land is unoccupied and not used by the Gov't in any way. He states in his application that he was forced from his home by the shelling and had to move himself & family away on account of the danger of being injured by the firing. The statements I find to be true. About one fourth of the above mentioned is in possession of the Bureau, the other portion occupied by the Military as previously stated.
