Robert Saunders
Williamsburg Va
Aug 19th 1865

Applies for restoration of his lands in York County Va
Endorsed

Williamsburg Va Aug 20th 1865
The statements herein recorded by Mr Robert Saunders so far as they are within my observation & knowledge are correct,
His farm has been the arena of constant military operations during the whole war. The line of fortifications of which Ft Magruder forms a portion is partly on his land. This was the ground upon which the battle of Williamsburg was fought in May "62" and Fort Magruder has been held and garrisoned ever since and troops have been encamped in its vicinity on the lands of Mr Saunders during the whole war
