Mr. Peck kept store in Hampton before the war, and was one of the most rabid of rebels, He was instrumental in raising the Hampton Artillery, became an active member and furnished goods from his store to give them a start, and said he would lay his wife and family in one common grave before he would submit to Union rule, He moved all his effects, store goods &c, to Richmond, and there remained during the war giving aid and comfort to the enemy. The within named property is held by the Bureau, (Sgd) C. B. Wilder Capt & A.Q.M. &c Richmond Va Sept 22d 1865 Respectfully returned to Capt C. B.
