I have the honor to forward through the Office of Supt. 6th. Dist., to your Hd Qrs the following report, in compliance with Circular No. 6, of date January 29. 1866.

There has nothing of interest transpired in this Sub-Dist. to report since my last; the feeling towards the Freedmen still remains the same, which is very unfriendly, the whites taking every opportunity to overawe them.

The trouble that has been anticipated at the division of the crops between those who were working on shares has passed over as most of the crops has been divided without any trouble or dissatisfaction that I have heard from; in some cases I have been asked to witness and did witness the division of the crops.

I have completed taking the Census of Essex and
