Sir:
I have the honor to report the condition of Bureau Affairs in this Sub-District as very satisfactory.

The good feeling previously reported as existing between the two classes continues, and there has been no outbreak of any kind during the month to interrupt it.

At the expiration of the last year the freedmen promptly renewed their contracts to labor with their last employers or entered into new agreements with others on satisfactory terms; very few are cultivating land for themselves, for the land owners will not rent it to them, but they have no trouble in engaging themselves for a portion of the crop; the latter arrangements appears most acceptable to both parties.
