which may be in your possession concerning any place or locatity in the county where sufficient number of colored children between the ages of 5 years and 20 years might be organized into a day. School provided an opportunity, were afforded showing as near as possible the number of each children at each place. 

Inasmuch as the Board of Registration his already traveled through the entire County, they must necessarily have obtained much valuable information, concerning the number and condition of the freedpeople, which if furnished will be of much service in this Office and materially, did the undersigned in the duties thereof.

Sir, 
I beg leave to inform you that complaint has reached this Office in effect that personal violence has been used upon the body of Fred Thomas (freedman) recently in your employ and further abuse threatened in case he shall not immediately leave your premises where he has been engaged in growing a crop during the year 1867. for the consideration of a share of said crop- and settlement denied him. The complainant was before this Office on the 11th inst for advise concerning his obligations under the terms of his contract with you for the present

year. At which time his obligations as also his privileges were fully explained to him. 
Thomas also asked for information as the justice of your retaining $10.20 from his wages in payment for his "Poll Tax" for the year 1866, concerning which a very respectful communication was addressed to you from this Office bearing date Nov 11, 1867. Your perusal of which I am informed occasioned much abuse upon the Official and personal character of Officers connected with this Bureau.
I do not question your privilege in the free and full expression of opinion upon the subject as it can in no way effect the authority or operation thereof.
I enclose herewith for your consideration copies of G.O. 81, 50 and 51 C.S. from Office Asst Comr B.R.F. & A.L. for the State of Miss. As will readily be observed any violation thereof will require prompt action by this Office.
