Office Sub Ass't Com'r Sub Dist of Lake Station Miss Lake Station Miss Nov 13, 1867 14 Officer Commanding Post of Jackson Jackson Miss Sir I beg leave to inform you that a man by the name of Jessey Harrill left this place yesterday with his family by Emigrant train route on his way to Texas. Before leaving here Harrill kidnapped a negro boy 12 years of age belonging to the wife of Henry Wilson (freedman) and took him away with him. A warrant was issued by the Acting Magistrate of this place for the arrest of Harrill, but I [[?]] it may not be acted upon promptly, enough to secure Harrill before he may get beyond the reach of the civil authorities. Therefore I have the honor to request you to employ such measures as will intercept him if he passes through Jackson as he undoubltly will and detain him until the civil authorities can secure him. Harrill is travelling with a new covered Emigrant wagon drawn by mules the number I cannot ascertain. I am Sir Very Respectfully Your Ob't Servant, Geo W Corliss Bvt Major V.R.C.
