With this exception the general condition of affairs is good, there being but little pauperism, want or crime among the Freedmen: their principal want is for good teachers and schools on the free school plan; they are not able to pay teachers and none have as yet been sent here

No temperance societies have been formed though I have tried to enlist some of their leading men in the cause.

Intemperance does not exist to any extent among the Freedmen of this section; 

The Freedmen are too much interested in the "Union League" to think of any other societies at present.

I have nothing further worthy of report at present
