portion of the Wise Farm has been leased out for Freedmen (most of whom have been living in the Farm since it has been in possession of the Bureau) subject to your approval, and they are now making preparation to commence farming on their own accord. The rates at which the Land has been leased are about the same as other Land on adjoining Farms has been leased at and is as much as the Freedmen will be able to pay.

A Sabbath School has been started on the Farm, and about 50 Scholars now on the Roll the difficulty is to find Teachers. The Division is still destitute of Day Schools, not one in the Division the Colored people are anxious to have their children educated, but have not the means to employ Teachers They are looking to the Bureau for help in this matter and hope that through its influence Teachers may be sent to the Division.

The colored people of the Division are temperate, industrious and doing the best they can to take care of themselves.

Very Respectfully
