I have not been able to verify this Statement - as yet - but hope to be able to do so as soon as the nature of my engagements will permit.

I need not urge upon the Bureau the necessity of Educating the Freedpeople & the poor whites - nor argue the case that it is the only means of raising their Status - the proposition is self evident - But these people are unable or unwilling to contribute to this further than to pay a very small per capita which, of course, is to unreliable to be considered - nor can they raise the necessary funds to erect a school house.

They know that the Bureau has furnished both School house & teachers - gratis - in other counties & they are willing she should do the same here.
