Major,
I have the honor to submit the following report, as the result of my investigation in the charge of Orange Sully, colored, against Philemon N. Gully his former master.

There is an error in the statement that all of his family have remained with Mr P.N. Gully since the surrender of The Confederate Army, as Orange, his wife and three children were away during the greater portion of the year 1866. I find that his statement relative to himself and wife having been whipped, is true; but have no evidence that P.N. Gully has anything to do with the act. The statement that P.N. Gully tried to seduce his daughter, is corroborated by one named "Amanda", who stated to me that such was the fact.

I would respectfully call your attention to letters from the office of the Sub Comm'r, Dist of Meridian to Asst Comm'r State of Miss dated respectively March 19th 1866, and April 24, 1866; and endorsement dated June
