afraid that my report will not reach you in time Some persons have been busily circulating a report that I receive 8$ per month from the Government for the Freedmen Now this is utterly false I have never rec'd one cent from the Government and if any aid has been sent I never rec'd it I do not think that any was sent but I should like very much to know if such has been the case

Many of the Freedmen are now without homes and I do not know what will become of them some of them Some of them were driven off after they had made crops by the ones they made them for Sometimes I think the Freedmen were to blame but in most of the cases they were driven off simply because their employers did not wish to give them their share of the crop Many have asked me what they are to do, of course I do not know what advice to give them I wish I could help them but cannot. Can the Government do anything for them? I would be pleased to hear from you again if it is not too much trouble for you to write.
