There is a movement on foot to give each negro who has any influence among his color a piece of land free of charge during his life or forever, if such present will induce him to vote down the proposed Constitution. Negro's are being discharged by their employers because they attend political meetings. The whole fact of the business is these people are more and more violent and rampant and it will be but a short time ere often and violent outrages will occur.

Upon my last visit to the extreme western portion of Dinwiddie county I was denied admittance to a public house of entertainment. And this was published in one of the city papers of Petersburg.

Upon last court day of Dinwiddie C.H. , Mr. Carr the Republican nominee for the State Senate was hooted at while addressing the people publicly and several men drew revolvers at the same time making threats &c &c
