Attending a practical campaign in which the rights of the colored people are on the one side ignored are well calculated to produce uneasiness and distrust in the minds of those who are so much interested in the results of the forthcoming election -
The bitter denunciation by the press of this state as well as by the public speakers of the proposed constitution of Va and the reconstruction policy or measures of Congress is no doubt calculated to engender hostility and animosity between the two political factions wherein as the contest waxes warm will continue  to increase in its proportions until finally settled. From what I can see I am of the opinion that the struggle of the next election will be a great deal stronger then at the late election and that more bitterness and hostility will be earned by the [[?]] of colored suffrage then ever before. 
The crops bid fair to be very good in this section and notwithstanding the lateness of the season I am inclined to think better crops will be realized this year than last
The School at this place will close today until October 1868
I have had more cases of petty controversies between white & black this month than for any month preceeding it for some time.
