I have the honor to submit the following report of Bureau affairs in general in the 1st Division. 8th Sub Dist. VA for the month ending June 30th 1868.
In the condition of the Freedmen there is no material change to notice since my last report.  They are generally employed either at small wages or for a share of the Crops.  Those who work for wages and have families find it all they can do to provide food, clothing and Shelter for themselves and families.  Some of these who work for a share of the crop manage to save a little so as not to be under the necessity of purchasing from day to day.
Schools,--The principal Schools in this dist close this month for a vacation of three months.  In
