The colored people I find as a general thing temperate and industrious and are getting along well considering what they have to contend with many of them save their earnings and are anxious to acquire homesteads the poorer class of whites are in a far worse condition than the colored but many of them want to follow their old masters who led them into rebellion, or so far as the "Confederacy" was concerned the "rich man's war and the poor man's fight" and are now trying to lead them into something worse
